Bro. Ballew grew up in the small town of Eton, Georgia. He was saved at the age of 12 at Canaanland Baptist Church in Resaca, GA, and surrendered to preach at the age of 18. In 2006, he met his wife, Sis. Tracy when he began attending Morningside Drive Baptist Church in Dalton, GA.
Sis. Tracy grew up in Delbarton, West Virginia, until she was 13, and her family moved to the Dalton, GA, area. She was saved at the age of 29 at Victory Baptist Church in Macon, GA. She moved back to the Dalton area a short time later, where she and Bro. Ballew met. They were married on October 21, 2006.
In 2008, God moved them to Staunton, Virginia, where they joined Faith Baptist Church. There, they served in the Sunday School department, Christian School, Prison Ministry, and Pulpit Supply. In 2015, God laid it on Bro. Ballew's heart to begin a nursing home ministry. From 2015 - 2020, he preached weekly at that ministry and was privileged to become the Chaplain of that nursing home.
In January 2021, God used Matthew 14:22 "And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away." to call Bro. Ballew to the other side of his country. After praying and seeking counsel from their Pastor and other men whom the Lord had allowed them to meet who were involved in Western USA Missions, God made it clear to Bro. and Sis. Ballew that Idaho was where He wanted them to serve Him.
On a Missions Survey Trip in June 2022, they visited Ponderay, ID. While there, God used
Ezekiel 3:15–17 "15Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days. 16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me." to show them that Ponderay is where He would have them start a church in Idaho.
In May 2025, they and their four children, Alex, Isaiah, Elijah, and Mattie, moved from Virginia to Idaho to start Lighthouse Baptist Church.
